Yesterday I added a message bar to the top of this blog to advertise a new feature – ‘Ask Dave’. A central place where I can receive any questions. Why not send me one now?
I recently designed a new website based on the Executive Pro theme by Genesis. rayhardingpropertyservices.com
Unfortunately the fantastic WP Retina 2x by Jordy Meow doesn’t work for logos or background images so you need to perform these steps to get your logo Retina-ready.
Strictly speaking this tut will work for all Genesis themes but the media queries will be different.
For a more generic Genesis theme tut, see this excellent post by Black Hill Web Works.
First of all, why?
Well, if you’re not using a Retina screen you may well think this is unnecessary, but truth is you should be designing for Retina to future proof your design, take care of your Retina readers (people with Retina screens – growing daily, hate non-retina images) and, it’s good practice.
A Retina screen has double the amount of pixels to a regular screen but squeezed onto the same screen which makes everything appear sharper. Producing a Retina logo or other image is as simple as saving out a version twice the size and adding ‘@2x’ at the end.
