Recently I’ve had a problem.
On my lovely MacBook Pro with Retina Display (AMAZING), using the latest version of Chrome (39.0.2171.99 (64-bit)), whenever I shutdown or restart – every website I was logged in to, logs me out!
Furthermore, a lot of sites ask me about ‘saving these settings’ and show annoying cookie messages at the top or bottom of the webpage.
I had a half look around on the web but could only find tips about checking your content settings:
Adjust cookie and site data permissions
– Click the Chrome menu Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.
– Select Settings.
– Click Show advanced settings.
– In the “Privacy” section, click the Content settings button.
– In the “Cookies” section, you can change the following cookies settings:
– Delete cookies
– Block cookies by default
– Allow cookies by default
– Keep cookies and site data by default until you your browser
– Make exceptions for cookies from specific websites or domains
None of this was any help as I had ‘Recommended’ checked for everything.
After getting sufficiently pissed off with it, I cleared everything in the content settings. No luck.
I messed around with the flags – chrome://flags, shutting down and starting up again. No Luck.
I uninstalled and re-installed Chrome. No luck.
I then disabled all my extensions and restarted. Bingo. Still logged in to all my sites.
I then enabled them 2 or 3 at a time and restarted to see if I could locate which extension was causing the problem. After enabling the last one and restarting I was still logged in!
So, that was 3 days ago and the problem has now gone away, thank god.
No idea what the issue was but if you’re facing the same problem, disable all your extensions and restart, enable them again and restart.
Hope it works for you, because it’s bloody annoying!
